The West Slope provides incredible habitat.

Across the three county region of West Slope Outdoors Alliance, nearly 3 million acres of habitat is deemed to be “high priority” by Colorado Parks and Wildlife. West Slope Outdoors Alliance is committed to protecting and restoring this habitat.

Repairing Wildlife Guzzlers

What is a wildlife guzzler? A wildlife guzzler is a rain catchment system that holds water in dry periods, creating a vital water source for wildlife. Already, these wildlife guzzlers exist across our landscape. However, where exactly these guzzlers are and whether they are functioning is not universally known. With funding from Colorado Wildlife Federation, Great Outdoors Colorado and Colorado Parks and Wildlife, West Slope Outdoors Alliance members are inventorying existent wildlife guzzlers and organizing volunteer efforts to repair these guzzlers.

Supporting Seasonal Closures

With funding from Great Outdoors Colorado and Colorado Parks and Wildlife, West Slope Outdoors Alliance members are working with the Bureau of Land Management to increase education around seasonal closures as well as install a closure gate in a currently unprotected area.
